GROWTH SUMMIT NOTES #1

DANA GENTRY

You might be drifting.

Busy can be sneaky.

It can make us feel productive while quietly taking us somewhere we never actually chose to go.

I recently heard Dana Gentry say:

“No one drifts into intentionality.”

I’ve been thinking about that ever since.

Because most of us aren’t sitting around doing nothing.

We’re answering emails. Solving problems. Helping clients. Going to meetings. Putting out fires.

We’re moving.

But movement isn’t necessarily progress.

Dana shared the old urgent/important matrix, but what struck me was the important but NOT urgent box.

That’s where a lot of the good stuff lives:

Your health.

Your marriage.

Your kids.

Your faith.

Planning.

Developing people.

Thinking.

Building systems that prevent tomorrow’s emergency.

The problem?

None of those things usually scream for your attention.

So if you don’t intentionally make room for them, the urgent stuff will happily consume every available minute.

Here’s my challenge this week:

Look at your calendar.

Does it reflect what you say is most important to you?

Not your intentions.

Your actual calendar.

Because nobody drifts into the life they really want.

We have to choose it.

Go live life on your terms,

Marcus
